ProFume® Fumigant is manufactured by Douglas Products in the United States. The active ingredient (sulfuryl fluoride) has been used successfully since 1961 against woodborer. Sulfuryl fluoride is registered in 22 nations and meets Codex Alimentarius Commission standards for international trade.
ProFume® fumigant is labeled to control rodents, insects and invertebrate pests. It is used in residential and nonresidential structures, listed commodities, and import/export quarantine uses.
Delivers proven pest management
ProFume® gas fumigant has proven effective against all life stages of a broad spectrum of stored product pests. ProFume® Fumigant is labeled to manage pests in many commodities and in all types of structures used to store, process and transport raw and processed commodities. Since 2004, its effectiveness has been demonstrated in numerous university studies and hundreds of commercial facilities, including warehouses; mills; grain elevators; food production facilities, such as pet food and pasta plants; stationary transportation vehicles; chambers; fumigated stacks; and more.
Sets a higher fumigation standard
ProFume® follows proven industry fumigation practices but with added benefits. ProFume® is non-corrosive and therefore does not pose a threat to sensitive electronic equipment and computers within the facility. Additionally, ProFume® gas fumigant does not affect commodity flavour, quality, colour or processing characteristics. Compared with phosphine, faster fumigations are possible with ProFume® and insect pests are not resistant to ProFume®. Compared with methyl bromide, ProFume® penetrates and aerates more rapidly and has lower sorption while keeping total fumigation costs similar. ProFume® is now registered in 18 nations, with more pending, and it has a Codex listing for international trade.
Recognized as a sustainable solution
The active ingredient in ProFume® gas fumigant, sulfuryl fluoride, has been used successfully for eliminating structure infesting pests for 50 years under the trade name Vikane® gas fumigant. When methyl bromide was scheduled for phaseout under the Montreal Protocol, several progressive food industries in the United States and other countries approached Dow AgroSciences to consider developing sulfuryl fluoride for food commodity use. As a result, Dow AgroSciences, in partnership with leading stored product researchers, fumigators and food industries around the world, developed ProFume® as a successful postharvest fumigant. Sulfuryl fluoride is not considered an ozone-depleting substance. Dow AgroSciences has received ozone protection awards from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the United Nations for the development of ProFume®. Douglas Products USA acquired the business from DOW in 2015.
