ProFume Stewardship Training
ProFume is a restricted use product which can only be purchased by registered fumigators (with Dept Agri Act 36/1947), and which have completed the ProFume stewardship training process. Our program is designed for professional fumigators who wish to incorporate sulfuryl fluoride (ProFume Fumigant Gas) into their business offering.
Theoretical Training
ProFume stewardship training must be completed by all fumigation staff that use ProFume for the first time. Fumico provides this training FREE of charge which we will conduct at our depots or the customers facility. The customer can include any amount of fumigation staff into the ProFume stewardship training but there must be at least two ProFume trained staff per company on site. One must be a registered fumigator with Department of Agriculture Act 36/1947.
This stewardship training does not replace standard fumigation training and does not qualify a person as a fumigator.
The course consists of both theoretical training and practical training.
Initial training covers the following;
- Physical properties of SF
- Required personal protective equipment
- Symptoms of overexposure
- First aid
- Cylinder handling
- Treatment sites
- Monitoring and clearance detection equipment
- Dosage calculation – FumiguideTM
- Site preparation
- Fumigant introduction
- Aeration
- Site specific procedures.
A theoretical assessment must be completed and passed by the stewards with an annual refresher stewardship training done every following year.
Practical ProFume Stewardship Training
After completing the theoretical training and functionality assessment, the customer must purchase his first ProFume cylinder and arrange an actual fumigation. The Fumico team will accompany the customer on his first few jobs to ensure the implementation of critical actions during Pre-planning, Site preparation, Introduction of the fumigant, Aeration on completion and Clearing of the site is done correctly.
Portfolio of Evidence
On completion of the stewardship process, A portfolio of evidence is compiled by Fumico and sent to Douglas USA. An end-user certificate and a product key to the Fumiguide is then issued to the approved fumigator.
The customer can then continue using ProFume on their own.
